About Us

Key Peninsula Lutheran Church is located at the corner of Key Peninsula Highway and Lackey Road, between Key Center and Home on the Key Peninsula of the south Puget Sound, Washington. We are a small congregation affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, however many of our members come from a variety of denominational backgrounds.

Bound together by basic Christian faith and a firm belief in the teachings of Jesus, the church membership is more like a family than a congregation. Although the membership has diverse interests and backgrounds, we are all committed to serving the community and improving the lives of families on the peninsula. The church was founded in 1978, meeting initially at the Vaughn Community Center. In 1984 the congregation completed construction of the present church building, built from lumber taken from the property, with construction work done by members of the church.

In 2002 we completed construction of our fellowship hall, a large meeting area with a kitchen, and bathroom facilities. The fellowship hall was designed to meet the needs of the community, and is used for meetings, workshops, social gatherings, emergency shelter, and community meals.  The congregation uses the facility for Sunday school and after-service coffee hour.

About Pastor Anna

Pastor Anna Bonaro came to serve part-time at Key Peninsula Lutheran Church in May of 2019. She grew up in Aurora, Colorado where she was baptized confirmed and eventually ordained at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church. She graduated from Luther College in Decorah, IA with her BA in Sociology and Communications and Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary in Berkeley, CA with her Masters in Divinity. She also did a year hospital chaplaincy residency program at UCSF in San Francisco, CA. Pastor Anna and her husband Pastor Adrian (who serves at First Lutheran Community Church in Port Orchard, WA) have lived in WA since 2013 (although her husband Adrian is native to Tacoma) and stay busy with their two very active boys.
The Bonaro family love camping, playing games and going on walks with their miniature schnauzer, Gus. Pastor Anna loves to walk along side Key Peninsula Lutheran Church as its members and visitors discover their faith and the ways that God is calling to them in their own lives. Faith isn’t about being told what to do, it is about discovering where God is calling you to serve.

“Even if I knew that tomorrow the world would go to pieces, I would still plant my apple tree.” Martin Luther
